I entered all the high tech area at one time. About two weeks ago I bought a Hitachi 42HDS69. Nice TV. I had never had a cable box, so last week Time Warner came out and hooked up a HD Cable Box / DVR. I hooked them together with HDMI Cable at input 1 of the TV. Next step was a Sherwood 670 2.1 Surround System. Today. It doesn't have HDMI so I am using component cables and hooked them from the DVD Player/Amp to the TV at input 3 component input. I obviously have done something wrong because I cannot get my external speakers to work when watching normal TV through the cable box. Of course on input 3 the DVD and speakers work fine. How do I get the surround sound external speakers to work all the time?
