A couple of years ago I purchased the following items to build a 6.1 HT system; 4 Sony SSMF500H Floor Standing Speakers 2 Sony SS-CN550H Center channel speakers (front and rear) 1 Sony 12" Powered Sub 1 Kenwood VR-6070 6.1 THX Receiver I was really excited to get the system home and get it all hooked up and when I did so, the system just sounds like crap, sometimes the sound is not loud enough in spots, I sometimes hear a lot of noise on the line, etc, etc. My older Sony 5.1 $200 HTiB sounds better and I have no idea why. I've talked to a lot of people who tell me that it is the Kenwood receiver because they just have bad quality. I guess what my question is, is whether I should try buying a different receiver and salvaging the speakers or are the speakers to blame and I am better off to start from scratch? Thanks everyone. |

The real problem is the entire set up, the speakers the receiver and the sub. If you want a real system give us a ballpark figure to work with. |
