I needed to mount some 16 lb surrounds near the wall/ceiling.

I couldn't find a mount that supported the speaker from underneath (as the manufacturer recommended) and still maintain headroom to walk under the speaker.

In my solution I used Vogel VBL100's because of their load rating and metal construction. I welded some angle iron and plate to support the speaker from below. A few screws through the base prevent the speaker from sliding off when angled.

It worked. They look great too. If you're looking for speaker mounts - have a look at the Vogels.
