Hi all, i have a room in my basement that is (16 x 13), is that large enough for a home theater using a rear projector and assuming i want two rows of seating? I just keep looking at it and cannot determine if it will be enough room, especially for those who sit in the front row. |

Why not go for a front projector installed into the ceiling? Takes up much less room and in most cases can probably deliver a better resolution.

If you can place your screen on the 13 ft wall you should be able to accomodate both rows of seating (not closer than 10 ft) and a 92 inch screen easily. (Closer than 10-12 ft and your screen should be smaller.) You should also have a couple of feet behind your second seats for a rear speaker or two.

When I draw out the plan, I am getting the front rows to be about 8 feet from the screen when placed on the 13 foot wall. It seems pretty close. Depth of each row of seating: 36"x2=72" Leg room between first and second row: 24" This leaves about 8 feet to the screen. The distance to the first row should be 2-2.5 times the size of your screen. |
