I just bought a new Philips plasma and am looking to get a new deck and nice center channel and a couple bookshelf size fronts. I don't want or need surround sound so the HTIB solutions with 7 speakers don't interest me. I'd prefer to spend the $$ on quality components than get a bunch of stuff I don't need.

I will be using:

Comcast HD DVR with HDMI out
Pioneer DVD with Progressive Scan - Component Video Out

My plasma has 2 HDMI inputs.

With only 2 inputs and 4 on my TV, I'm not sure if I should run everything through my Reciever (like I'm doing now) or just plug it all directly into the TV. Any advantage of one over the other? If a Rx has an HDMI out, I guess it's probably not a bad idea since you have fewer cables going to the TV?

So, any recommendations for a nice Rx that fits the bill here? A solid center and bookshelf fronts?

Any other recommendations/suggestions welcome!!
