I have a Sony receiver (model STR-DE597) and bought a boxed set of JBL surround sound speakers. It is 5.1 system. The sub woofer shows that it is on but no sound. I have turned it on under the settings option but still no sound. Please help.

make sure that the subwoofer option on the speaker set up of your receiver is turned on.

Consult your manual on "Speaker Set-up".

I already did. I still get no sound from the sub. Any other suggestions?
