I've got a high-end audio setup with a Rotel 1068 AV pre/pro and DVD player "on top" (using the same power amp, speakers, and sub). Basically, the 1068 is there just to decode the DVD 5.1 sound into 2 channels. I've just never felt the need for center/rear channels for music.

My question, which is something I should have given more thought to before, is how much good is this $1800 piece of gear really doing me?? How much would I lose by just running the DVD 2ch sound outputs right to my stereo preamp and out to the speakers...?

Well I'm gonna try it and find out but I thought I'd solicit some opinions. I can still return this peice of gear if I choose.
