I am purchasing a complete home theater system, as we lost everything to Katrina. I am purchasing a Sony KDF-E50A10 50" LCD projection, a Harman Kardon AVR 240, and an upconverting Sony DVD. This TV only has one HDMI input. I am considering two options - one hooking my HD cable up via component and the DVD through HDMI (so I can use the upconvert feature), and two, buying an HDMI switch and hooking bot the DVD and cable up through this.

Any suggestions from someone who has been there?

If you have the uption of HDMI switch and don't mind it go with that. HDMI is still superior to Component. If it just proves too much of a hassel then you can do component and HDMI.
