Hi, I've got a new Sony str-da7100es receiver, a Sony dvp-cx995v 400 disc dvd, and an older Sony dvp-cx860 300 disc dvd. I have the 860 connected to the dvd component input on the receiver sound on optical cable. The 995 is connected to the HMDI1 input on the receiver with a 1m HMDI monster cable. The receiver outputs video to my older than dirt projection tv via the component connector. The 860 works just dandy but the 995 has sound only when I switch the receiver to the HMDI1 input to watch a dvd. What am I doing wrong?

Just hook everything up with component video and either coax or optical audio.
HDMI through many receivers is troublesome.
