I just upgraded to HDTV with comcast and have their HDTV DVR cable box connected to my Sony 43" projectiion tv. It's a great HD picture. Now I want to hook up to my Kenwood VR 6050 receiver and get my surround soud working. To me it look like it cannot be done. The receiver does not have the component video hook ups(Y, PB, and PR). Do I need to by a new receiver? Does the video signal need to be routed through the receiver for the surround sound? Any ideas?? or any suggestion on a new receiver that's not too expensive...I've looked at an Onkyo and Yamaha that say they support HDTV. |

I don't think you'd need a Video signal for Surround sound.

Sure you can get a new reciever. Less mess. less stress. Less work to change inputs. USUALLY better sound...... Why, connect the COAX audio (orange) to the reciever or the optical (red light) to the reciever and make sure based on the manual for your reciever that it is on the right input. BAM!!!! now you have surround sound.... careful, check the menu on your box to make sure it is setup to output DD SS. |
