I have the onkyo ht-s580 HTinBox I need to connect my panasonic dvd player's audio to the receiver. I was looking at the various optical cables and got confused Are all these the same? 1. Toslink digital optical audio 2. toslink optical audio 3. toslink SPDIF optical audio 4. toslink M to M and there are so many more at prices ranging from $3 to $100 If they are all different then which one do I need and If they are all same, can someopne tell me a good audio optical cable. Thanks

Have you read the manual? This is the best place to start to determine what type of cable you need. It also avoids (most) confusion. But so far, the newer HT products have only one type of digital optical cable. Toslink is only one type, I believe, but goes by so many different names. |

Just get a Philips optical for about $12. No need to spend any more than this. |
