I am having a time hooking up my surround sound system. I have DirecTV hooked to my TV and trying to connect a surround/DVD system to it.
Problem: The DVD plays fine with picture and sound.
The DirecTV works fine - except I can only get sound from the TV and not coming through the speakers of the surround sound system.
Please assist. |

Have you checked the manuals that came with your systems? |

Yes - and I have it hooked up the way they tell me to - but still no surround sound for the TV - only TV speakers. |

This happened to me. The problem was that I neglected to turn off my TV's speakers through the option menu on the TV. If you don't do this your TV will not know to send the sound to your receiver...it will continue to use it's own speakers. |

how can i make dvd speakers come thru my ..nonstereo tv..it doesan't give u a choice toturn speakers off on remote |

Assuming it is a regular DirecTV box and not a High Definition DirecTV Box -Go from the DirecTV audio out to your HT Audio In - Switch to AV 1 or AV 2 on your HT. |
