Sound stopped working. Usually when you turn the volume dial a digital volume reading appears. That does not happen. Also, the volume up/down on the remote doesnt make anything happen (remote works for everything else). Mute is off. System works through TV speakers (DVD and VCR). I tried unplugging and restarting doesnt work. Ntohing was touched or adjusted, just started happening. The fact that there is no response to the volume dial manually or with the remote tells me there is an issue internally with the unit

It sounds like you need a new receiver.
