Hi, could someone recommend a home theater package for around $500. I need something without a dvd player (have one) and one with small enough speakers to wall mount (new home pre-wired for wall mount). This will eliminate those I would have purchased like the Onkyo HT-S650 and the Kenwood HTB-544. I would still like to get something similar to these in quality. I apprecaite any help you can give. If you are into component based option, i would seriously consider a receiver from Pioneer VSX-D811S. This receiver can support you for a long time as it is 100* 6 = 600w, 6.1 ch, Dolby Dig EX, DTX ES and plenty of in/outs, even one for 7.1 ch.
At this time this receiver is going for $300 at BB. Have a look at this receiver once at BB.
Reqd it's review on cnet.com
To this I would add speakers from Pioneer/Kenwood or anyone of your liking. I would start with 3 to 4 speakers. You can get pretty decent speakers for $200.
This will give you the flexibility to upgrade your speakers as and when you are ready to. |
