Hi – I’m having real problems connecting my new 5.1 speaker system to my stb/dvd/tv. Could someone please help!! I am a real novice so bear with me.

My equipment is as follows:

TV: LCD with one Scart, and a couple of audio AV-2 sockets.
DVD: One scart, coaxial and some audio sockets.
Set top box: Telewest with two scarts (TV and “VCR”) and pretty much nothing else.
Speaker system: dolby (some small speakers and a subwoofer unit which is plugged into the wall) with a coaxial and red/white audio sockets.

I have some scart cables, a coaxial cable, a cambridge “audio/visual interconnect” (which is a cable with a scart on one end and some audio/video cables on the other.

I asked someone at a reputable electronics store today and he confused me even more.

My aim is to be able to watch TV and DVD and have the sound come through my new speakers. Please help!!

Thanks heaps.
