Please send me your reviews on these systems that you are presently using.
This is for a fairly open 12' x 16' x 8' ceiling
sized room.
I don't want to rattle the windows or cause the plaster walls to crack, just a nice sounding surround system.

Many Thanks.

I have the Onkyo 650 in a 16 x 25 room with 8 foot ceilings. It is great for movies. Very strong sub woofer (active 150W) for the price, excellent midrange and highs as well. Neighbors have watched Blackhawk Down using DTS, LOTR using DD and Harry Potter using Dolby PrologicII and can't believe I paid less than 1k for the system. I auditioned Yamaha, Kenwood (blech), the Sony "dream" systems and even Bose @ $999. The Onkyo won in the stores and sounds great at home. I don't like movies so loud they knock your windows out, but when you can FEEL the shock wave at Sauron's defeat in LOTR go through the couch, that adds something to watching movies at home that makes you realize a home theater setup IS special. Read the specs, then you need to listen for yourself.
