i have a sony dvd home theater system. the surround sonud works when i play dvds but not wen i watch tv.sound only comes out of 3 speakers and the sub.i am using comcast digital cable with a scientific atlanta explorer 2100 cable box.and a jvc tv. does anybody know how i can get all 5 speakers working when i watch cable? |

watch a program with dd5.1 or prologic and make sure you have either pro logic setup in the rec. settings or make sure the audio connection between the cable and rec is (ideally) optical or coax digital or second best l,r rca's. p.s. most programs on tv are not 5.1 and even the ones that are prologic rarely have rear sounds, commercials tend to have more surround than main programming.

further make sure you own a true 5 channel amplifier, not merely a pro logic amp which steals power from the front speakers and sends it on a delay to the rear. Most theater in a box systems are pro logic, not DTS. |
