Well I am creating myself a budget system of around $700 dollars for Sub, Recevier, and Speakers. This is a 5.1 Setup Used in a 17 ft. Lenght x 10 ft. Width Room. Primary Use is Movies and Normal TV Programming with a hint of music.

Reciever: Yamaha HTR5740 $209
Center: BIC America DV-62CLRS Center Speaker $111
4 Speakers (2x Front 2x: BIC America DV62si-B Tower Speaker $226
Subwoofer: Velodyne VX10 $146.99
Total: $693 including Shipping + Tax

What I sort of don't like is that the subwoofer isn't powered... can anyone provide info if that will be a performance issue and if so recommend another sub up to $200 including shipping.

Otherwise any other comments and suggestions in the price range?

Though you can get hold of the JBL 4645 THX approved cinema sub bass at a second hand price of £400.00 UK

At http://www.fproj.com/used/speakers.htm

And the JBL 4645 looks like this http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.jmgkorea.com/image/cinemasol ution/4645c.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.jmgkorea.com/page/cinema%2520solution/4645c .htm&h=218&w=153&sz=11&tbnid=1wlwjnONwDMJ:&tbnh=101&tbnw=71&hl=en&start=3&prev=/ images%3Fq%3Djbl%2B4645%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN

I have one my self she is one hell of a sub bass I have her on her side she’s a black mean thing from outer-space, well she will give the space shuttle a lovely lunch on The dream is alive or Hail Columbia on Warner DVD in full Dolby six-track, originally shown in IMAX theatres.

Well I Can get the BIC V1220 Sub for just $5 more to my total system price raising it to $697.

I have feeling this is the better deal :-)

Also Andy Summers.... that is way out of my price range.

Armin, hi there

Sorry if it a little OTT over the top, but hay I must be honest hear the JBL 4645 sub bass is so choice, if you have the means in the future I highly recommend picking one up.

Ashley.

armin go for the bic and when you get it put a mdf board under it. cut it the same size as the sub and either install it with 2" of brace between the bottom of the sub or just rest the sub on top of it with something to cushion the plastic feet on the board, you will notice a dramatic improvement on lower end extension. I have that same sub and love it for the price.
