I recentl purchased a new receiver, which is outputting about 100W per channel. I have not yet upgraded my 50W speakers. To date, I haven't had any problems. But, now I'm seeing a unique phenomenon, and I thought I'd ask for some help.

When I am watching a high def channel or movie that has a Dolby Digital signal, everything is great. But, as of a day or so ago, when I watch regular channels that just have a digital signal, I get crackling in the sound, in all speakers. I have never had this before. I have a digital coax cable from the cable box to the receiver. It doesn't seem like it is the speakers or I'd have the problem all the time. And, it seems odd it would be in all the speakers at the same time. But, if it's not that, then what is it? Is something screwy with the cable box?? Still doesn't explain why only with digital and not with other formats like Dolby Digital. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
