I recently purchased a new 36" sony flat screen televeison and am in the market to buy a surround sound system. I am a 21 year old college student and don't have the money to purchase a high end system. I began looking on ebay and found Theater Research. It seemed far too good to be true so i researched them and found the scam. My question is this: Although the speakers are not worth the thousands of dollars that they say they are, are they worth the $400? or are they total garbage. Cause they look nice and if they are decent speakers but not great speakers they still appeal to me. Any input is greatly appreciated.

For $400 you can get some pretty nice speakers from reputable manufacturers. I wouldn't bother with them--too good to be true usually is. Try asking in the Speakers forum about what's available within your budget; I'll bet you get more suggestions than you can reasonably research. :-)
