I just swapped my old analog cable box for a new digital one. There is a digital(spdf orange) coaxial cable output for sound as well as an optical coaxial. I only have one spdf input in my Denon receiver and it is being used for my dvd player. Will the optical coaxial give me digital sound as well or is that for video purposes only?

Optical coaxial did you say? Describe the appearance of that cable.

If you're talking about a standard optical cable, the answer is yes. You can use that to connect your new cable box to your receiver to ouput 5.1dd sources.
