I'm hooking up my new Sony KD-34XS955 HDTV to my HTIB Sony HT-6800DP. IF HDTV broadcast in 5.1, how do I got the audio to my receiver? I have analog audio out on the TV. I also have digital optical out (the manual refers it to Super CD or something. Is this what I use? If so, do I need to connect both if the audio broadcast is not digital?

Thanks,

I just went this route last night after using analog for a year. I now use an optical cable from my HDTV box to my receiver. The difference is nothing short of amazing.

Optical out is the way to go. You only need to connect both if you would be recording to an analog source (say to a cassette deck) as most receivers do not down convert digital to analog.
