I have a DVD player with outputs for 5.1 I have a stereo pre-amp. Is there a way to run the additional DVD outputs straight to a power amp, by-passing the pre-amp, or is it mandatory to upgrade to a surround-amp/processor to use the surround channels? |

Go for the upgrade mate. With the amp you have at the moment you can only decode stereo, two channels, left and right. Your DVD player wants it to take 6 channels, L, R, C, RL, RR and sub. You'll need an amp with 5.1 / DTS etc options. Shop around and do a bit of research. Oh, and pre-amp.. are you sure thats what you mean? Laters. |
