TV: Sony 34XBR960
Source: HD-DVR from Cox cable

I'm considering upgrading my Radio Shack Gold Series component video cables with Avic Cables. Will or should I notice a difference in picture quality when watching HD broadcasts? The Avic Cables are almost 3 times the price of the Radio Shack brand.

Your input is appreciated.

I worked for RadioShack for 10 years. Their Gold Series is a decent cable. But it is nothing more than a good conductor with good shielding, thick insulation and a bulky connector. They really put no R&D into their cables. They offer no advantage over true quality cables. But best thing I can recommend is to try out a great upgraded cable. Make sure you get a solid return policy, then test it out. Watch the same program material through both sets of cables. Start with the new ones, then switch back. If you like the differnce, keep the new ones. Honestly, not everyone notices an improvement. But if you know what you are looking for (brighter colors, enhanced detail, etc.) you will never go back to your old cables. Good luck.
