Hi, I got my receiver all setup a few days ago and I cant even believe the difference in sound quality between my current setup (onkyo everything) and what I had last week (A nice tv..)

Here is my question.. My DVD player has a SP/Dif port out that I understand is used for digital audio output and requires a special cable to be connected from there to my receiver. Right now, i dont have that cable so I am using an analog connection (red, white and yellow). My receiver is set to THX home cinema and the sorround sounds really nice. If I already have thx, do you reccomend that I get the digital coax cable?

Yes, get a digital coaxial cable.
Hook it up to your receiver by using the digital input jack (usually color coded in orange). Then set up your dvd player to output Dolby Digital and DTS (if capable). Then set your receiver to auto detect. Read your manual more carefully and you can enjoy the digital surround.
Right now you are not getting true surround sound but stereo, divided into the different speakers.
