I have just connected my new Sony DVP-NS575P DVD player to a Luxman LR-2200 receiver. The problem is that there is no sound. The settings on the DVD player are; Digital Out: On Dolby Digital: Dolby Digital DTS: On However, sound only is present with the D-PCM option instead of the Dolby Digital option selected on the DVD player. The connection is a toslink optical. My older cheap Sansui works fine on the Luxman, so I am a bit mystified as to why there is no sound with the Sony unit.

well after a bit of further investigation by connecting yet another DVD player (Pioneer), I have worked out that the Luxman receiver is failing to process Dolby Digital signals. Even better is that as I purchased the receiver just over 12 months ago and Yale told me that they couldn't do anything about it....Great, a $800 boat anchor. I think I might look around for a decent receiver. |
