I recently purchased an RCA surround sound system. I'm having trouble adjusting the sound. It seems to echo and I can't seem to get the effect I'm looking for. I've tried adjusting all the speaker and subwoofer levels and changing the settings (i.e. Theatre, Stadium, etc). I know it isn't the most expensive system but I think it should sound better than it does. My dad has a Durabrand (quite cheap) and it sounds fine. Any suggestions?

Leave the surround settings to automatically detect the incoming audio signals and turn off the sound setting, such as, theater, stadium, etc. These settings put an echo effect on the sounds. Let the receiver do the job of detecting Dolby Digital or DTS.
