I have a PS2 hooked up to Kenwood VR-806 via the digital optical. I have DD and DTS both enabled on the PS2. When watching a movie with DTS, the bass sounds really strange, almost metallic. However, DD sounds fine. For example, the opening credits to I, Robot sounds like the sub is made out of sheet metal. The bass is louder, but I don't think it's distortion. Any suggestions?

OK, I've done a little more research. I've played with the LFE setting on the receiver and that didn't get rid of it, just made the sound and the bass less noticeable. Also, I watched "The Terminal" and had it set to DTS. I noticed the sound at times when there was some background noise, almost sounded like the lights in the movie where supposed to humming. I forgot to note that the sub is a JBL Sub135, with a gold plated Acoustic Research 6ft RCA cable hooked into the LFE port on the sub.
