ok, i just went out and bought some component leads to connect my surround sound/amp/dvd to the tv...
after connecting and turning on the dvd, the picture is not displayed properly but is shakey and moves up and down.
having read the tv manual, i am worried that my tv does not support this connection even tho it has the ports on the back.

can anyone help me to fix the problem

check your dvd player and make sure that the progressive scan is turned off. Your TV is probably not progressive scan compatible.
