I recently had a problem with a HK DVD22 player and HK, to make it up to me, has offered me a $100 credit and reduced employee pricing off one HK, JBL, or Infinity item. (www.harmanaudio.com) I'm a newbie and would like to take this opportunity to improve my system. HK upgraded my player to a DVD31, with which I am very happy. So I'm set there. My question is, what next? Upgrade the receiver? The speakers? My set-up: I have an old Kenwood VR-407, with which I have been very pleased (especially considering what I paid for it back in 2001). My speakers are the ones that were packaged in the Kenwood HTB-503 system, model # KS-401HT. They are described here: http://www.hometheatermag.com/allinonehometheatersystems/38/ So where are the biggest gains to be found? Should I take the plunge and get a new HK receiver? Or is that dumb with the speakers I've got? Or should I get a HK HT speaker set? Or just get a new pair of main speakers? The employee pricing is not a percentage and ranges from item to item. I have to inquire about specific items, so I really have no idea what the discount will be. I probably can't spend more a few hundred dollars total out of my own pocket. So, any thoughts? Thanks for your input! |
