Just wondering if anyone could provide some input. I was wondering how well the aperion intimus 5.1 system mated with the yamaha v1400 and the marantz 5400/6400. As much input as anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I experimented with the Intimus 5.1 system owned by a friend and we concluded that a yamaha was a poor choice for those speakers. The Yamaha tends to be a little bright, and the Aperion system is the same way--combined they are not a good system, IMO.

The Marantz is a much warmer sounding receiver, with a smoother sound, which is a much better match for the Aperions. The 6400 is worth the extra cash over the 5400 if you have it.

Good luck!
