I know many have setup custom cooling fans for providing adequate cooling and ventilation for home theatre equipment. My question is regarding control of those fans. I assume most are running AC fans as opposed to DC fans, but how are you turning them on and off.

I like the idea of having a thermostat kick them on and off, and while i have found quite of few around the $40 range, I was wondering if anyone has come accross something cheaper.

Or if an thermostat is even necessary, as opposed to simply leaving them on if equipment is on.

Many receivers have AC outputs. I simply use slow, quiet fans that come on when the receiver is on. Hope this helps
