I'm looking for a HT speaker system that will be a good match for my HK AVR 630. I like both of these systems because of their small size, and I can get either of these systems for about the same price. Any thoughts on these systems would be helpful.

I think the Mod2 are going to be a better system, although both are good. I think companies that have the business model advantage of selling direct, like Orb, can generally deliver a better product at any given price point than manufacturers that have to sell the old fashioned way and contend with various layers of markups. If a system is $1,000, I'd rather pay the manufacturer $1,000 direct, than pay a store $1,000 knowing that the manufacturer likely got $400 of that $1,000 and it's really a $400 system. This is all obviously somewhat of a generalization, but in any industry, the direct sellers have a huge advantage over the other comapanies and can use more expensive components and still come out at the same or lower price. |
