So I want to make one of those beer pong tables that has LEDS and such. Here's some of the functionality I'm thinking of:

LEDS illuminate circles where the cups are to be placed. In the center of the circles would be a light sensor(infrared?) that would shut off the lights when that particular cup is removed.

Ball washer - Optional, I haven't seen one that appeals to me yet.

Stretching it would be to play some random sound when the first cup is removed. (First Blood!?)

What I need help with is finding an LED/light sensor kit I can experiment with. Perhaps there is something that I can hook to my pc and program the LED patterns/sounds/cup detection in that would eventually be stand alone?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
