I was going to buy a laptop from best buy.
The sales dude patronized me and did his speech
about how they weren't on commission and did
I want the PSP. No I did not want the PSP just
the Sony Vaio. O.K. no prob but guess what ?
They are all out. Seems that if you dont get
the PSP theres a good chance they wont sell you
the unit. I closed my Best Buy credit card with
its whopping 2k limit. Then I stumbled over

That's ridiculous, I'd severely chastise another associate of mine who didn't sell you the product just because you didn't get the PSP. "Take the Business" is a huge key phrase with this company, he obviously didn't follow it. There is a huge reason as to why he didn't want to sell you the computer, if you'd like to know why email me. Too much information for a forum post. But either way, it was wrong.

i forgot to mention that he tried to sell me
anti-virus software for 175 which i declined.
a post at the sux website someone bought a
laptop they told him that the norton anti-virus
software was not included but they would install
it for 65. He had it installed, got home and
saw that the laptop came with a norton cd, he went
back and tried to get his refund but the manager
basically said too bad. i do not want to put
myself in a situation where someone rips me off
and i go ballistic, it would not be a pretty
sight. |

I used to work for BBY for over 10 years, 7 as a manager (never a sales manager, just ops and inventory). Sales managers were always under a lot of pressure to raise PSP sales. PSP sales were measured as a % of total sales so a laptop sale with no PSP brings your % way down.
Corporate management, Regional management, District management, and the Store manager would frown upon denying a sale because the PSP is not attached. Sales managers that tried to use this tactic are desperate because their numbers are down, and they will do anything to get that number up. They don't last very long because their "cheating" tactics eventually catch up to them and they lose their jobs.
Putting BBY down as a whole is a mistake. You just had a bad experience with a poor sales manager making bad decisions.
It would be like putting down Honda because you happened to deal with some desperate sales guy that wanted to try to screw you over. |
