Do any of the new recorders record in five chanel dolby digital. I would like to record off satalite with optical cable.

I think the new Philips does, don't know if it's been released yet though.

Try searching for the Toshiba RD-XS52 or the Philips DVDR755. Only two so far as I know and neiter one is available stateside just yet, but soon.

PS: The Toshiba RD-XS52 is being rebadged from the Toshiba RD-XS53 so you might search for both.
