I am thinking about picking up this model and wanted to hear some of your opinion on it. I am also looking at the Hitachi 46F500 and the sony 46 inch model as well.

I can't give you any recommendation based upon personal experience, but I've spent a lot of time reading threads on AVSForum while searching for a tv. Most on that forum consider the Hitachi S series to be the best CRT rear projection set available and Hitachi to be the best mfgr overall. Good luck!
