I was wondering if the Sammy 46" DLP or the Sony 42" LCD supported 1080i HD signals. I don't even know where to begin looking for this.

Support as an input, YES. Display 1080i, NO, since the Sammy displays in 720p and the Sony's native resolution is an odball 768p.
