A lot of people have found this to be very usefull! If you still encounter any problems email me and I will do my best to help you get up and running! I dont think the links will work in here but this is everything you need, and if you havn't got a magic card yet then what are you waiting for? FTA software, Dishnet Software, Bell Software, DirtctTV Software comming soon too! www.maestra.tv/english www.magicard.tv www.datastreamz.net DataStreamz - Your One Stop Information Site. Official Sponsor of the Magic Card! www.datastreamz.net Magic Card Programming For Dummies A guide for the rest of us These instructions are based on the current version of the Magic Card Software DOWNLOAD IT HERE www.magiccard.tv Introduction: The Magic Access Card is a revolutionary new technology now available to Dishnet and ExpressVU Satellite testers around the globe. The "Echostar Magic Card" is a pre-programmed, wafer thin smartcard that a customer enters into his Dishnetwork, Express VU, Globalcast or Cabo receiver to decode all channels. The customer is required to program the card with updated Magic software! HOW DOES IT WORK? The "Echostar Magic Card" may be operated in four modes: Married Sub Mode: If the customer has a subscription, he simply inserts the card into his receiver and all channels are decoded. He may then reduce his regular subscription or cancel altogether. He will need to program the card with the newest “married Sub” Software for his provider before insertion in the receiver. Non-Married Sub Mode: If the customer does not have a subscription, he can still use the "Echostar Magic Card" if he knows his receiver's boxkeys and his Dishnetwork card boxkeys. Camless Mode: The customer may also program the "Echostar Magic Card" to work without a Dishnetwork card as long as he knows the receiver's boxkeys. He can select rom3 rom10 or rom11 mode for each provider. Rom 101,102,103 Blocker mode: If your receiver cannot be modified to accept anything but the yellow ROM 101-103 cards you will need to run the Magic Card in ROM 10x blocker mode and slide it under your soon to be ex sub ROM 10x card *Operating modes 1 and 2 are highly recommended for beginners to avoid ECM’s. The Magic Card has the following Features: Full Autoroll for all providers and modes of operation; incorporates new substitution/bit-flopped algorithms. Decryption of all ROM2, ROM3, ROM10 and ROM11 EMM's in real time (stable solution for Dish testers). Will work as a BLOCKER for ROM 101-102 and 103 ex sub cards so you can cancel your sub and keep all channels. REGULAR CODE / SUPER CODE Support Will work with various European satellite providers like Cabo TV, Polsat and Via Digital Will work in both Camless and Married Sub mode with Globe Cast One Touch Support for model 6000 receivers added. When used in Married Sub mode there is no need to know the Box Key and IRD Number of your receiver. File Fixes released generally within 24-48 hours of an ECM or Error Future Planned Operations: Blocker support for ROM10X series cards (complete and awaiting release) Married-Sub operation for ROM10X cards (proof of concept tested and working - DES keys discovered without micro probing). Camless operation using ROM10X data stream TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS -20 MHz Main Processor with 256K memory -Crypto-Processor: DES Decryption Time < 20 ms, RSA-512 bit Decryption time < 1 sec. -Full channel access including ALL PPV. -Will auto-detect and work with any Echostar compatible system, including Dishnetwork, Express vu and Globecast. -Full autoroll using ROM3/10/11 emulation. -Support for ROM101/102/103 cards. -Optional channel expiration date programmable by Dealer. -Private scripts and support for both cam/camless operation. -Wafer thin, black solder mask (see update at end of this guide, potential problem area discovered), professional finish. What you need to get started: These instructions are based on the current version of the Magic Card Software DOWNLOAD IT HERE www.magiccard.tv A Magic Access Card and LPT Programmer Dishnet or ExpressVU Receiver (with boxkeys for certain modes, you will need a jtag to retrieve the Boxkey for your receiver) Check www.dishmonkey.com/ or here for instructions on how to build your own as well as other helpful guides and tutorials. You must also make sure your receiver has the current software version on it. Unlock it and allow it to Stream update for 15-30 minutes. Some older receivers do not have enough memory to store and display all available channels, you will need to select which tiers you want and program them directly to the card. Internet Access to retrieve up to date files and fixes for the Magic Card A DB25 pin Straight through Cable, the shorter the better. This is an extension cord for your printer port; if your port is easily accessible, you can plug your programmer directly into the port which may give you a better connection. Typically Laptop Computers will not work as no power is supplied to the LPT port. Basic Programming Skills and Computer Knowledge, tutorials available all over the internet! WinZip File Extractor available here (or some other decompression program to extract .zip files) You can modify your old Atmega or AVR wafer programmer to program your Magic Cards if you don’t want to spend $5 for the actual programmer, find out how here Advanced settings available to experienced users. **Meddle only if you are confident you know what you are doing** These instructions are based on the current version of the Magic Card Software DOWNLOAD IT HERE 1. Regular/Super Code and Autoroll: Regular Code: attempts to emulate a valid cam as accurately as possible. Super Code is experimental code that was designed to by-pass ALL ECM attempts. It does this in a rather ingenious way, which cannot be revealed here! This Code is only for use in the event of an ECM as a backup to regular code until such a time as a fix is released! Autoroll: you can enable or disable feature. It is recommended that you enable to Autoroll the keys when they change. If you disable, make sure you enter the correct Key0/Key1, Aux0/Aux1 prior to programming. Current Keys and Aux numbers can be found here 2. Tiers: Select the channel and PPV tiers you want. By default, all channels are open. However, some receivers do not have enough memory to display all channels and will drop some out of necessity. In this case, you have to edit the tiers section to eliminate those channels you do not want (e.g. locals) and keep those that you want. You may also blackout any channels you do not want to view on your guide. Current tier lists for Dish and Bell available here 3. EMM Signatures: You may add the signatures of any active ECM packets here. The code will then respond correctly to these EMM's. Otherwise, the code will attempt to decrypt and process all EMM's by itself. You can also view real-time EMM's here 4. ROM10X: Programming features for the new series of cards. Camless operation using the ROM10X DataStream (coming soon) Married Sub Operation These instructions are based on the current version of the Magic Card Software DOWNLOAD IT HERE You will be using your Magic Card with a valid subscribed card. There is no need for you to extract or know your Box key or Receiver Number. Plug your programmer into your PC's parallel port and insert your Magic Card into the programmer. Start up the Magic Card Software. Select your Satellite Provider (DishNet or Bell Express Vu) and under Setup select Married-Sub. Please ensure you are using the newest software. You do not need to alter the default CamID in section #4. Leave it at the default numbers shown. Enter your password that is provided with your Magic Card and click on "PROGRAM CARD". Passwords for cards are included with each card. Each card is placed in a small envelope along with its unique password. Do not loose this password, as it is irretrievable at this time. Once the programming completes insert both the magic card and subbed-cam into the receiver (subbed-card on top of magic card). Never force both cards into the receiver if it is a tight fit. First, insert the Magic Card 3/4 of the way into the receiver and then slide your card over the Magic Card and push both into the receiver. After the receiver resets itself, you should have all channels open. If you program your card and get an error indicating card not inserted correctly in the receiver, try decreasing the Programming Speed re-program the card again. The Programming Speed determines how fast your card is programmed. The bit-error-rate is smaller at decreased speeds and may be helpful if you have a noisy LPT or long parallel port. Several attempts to find your ideal programming speed may be necessary. Un-Married Magic Card Operation These instructions are based on the current version of the Magic Card Software DOWNLOAD IT HERE If you don't have a subscription but have an open ROM2,3,10 or 11 card you can be using your Magic Card in Unmarried mode. Plug your MC programmer into your PC's parallel port and insert your Magic Card into the programmer. Start up the Magic Card Software. Select your Satellite Provider (DishNet or Bell Express Vu) and under Setup select Unmarried. Enter the Public Key0 and Key1 of your card and your receiver's Boxkey in field 2 (Cam Information). You can get your card's public keys by reading your OPEN ROM with Nagraedit. The Public Key is the last Key0/Key1 (DishNet) or Aux0/Aux1 (Bell) on your card or you can get the current keys for your provider here Next, enter the IRD# and Box Key for the receiver in field 3 (Receiver Information). You only need to change the eight digits in the center of the existing number. Leave the R00………and the-XX as they are. If your receiver is a 6000 series one, click the checkbox selecting it. Enter your CAM ID and Time Zone and ZIP code in the optional information in field 4 (Optional Information) It is highly recommended you leave the default CamID as it is. For those of you that need it some help with you Zip codes: For US users just convert your Zip Code to hex using the Windows Calculator, and For Canadian Users, try some of these codes: British Columbia: 3758,5464-5483,5490,5493,5496-5718,6240-6266,1575 Alberta: 3706,4935,4940-5461,5486,5488,5984-6006 Saskatchewan: 4680-4921,4937 Manitoba: 3784,3921-3924,4121-4147,4420-4654,5982 Ontario, Quebec: 780,1560-3638,3732,3900-3919,3926-4091,5980 Maritimes: 15-17,73-559,1040-1280,3836 Newfoundland: 0-13,26-65 Just put Zeros in front as needed! Must remain as 5 digits Enter your password that was provided with your Magic Card and click on "PROGRAM CARD" Passwords for cards are included with each card. Each card is placed in a small envelope along with its unique password. Do not loose this password, as it is irretrievable at this time. Program the magic card and insert both the magic card and Unmarried ROM card into the receiver (ROM on top of magic card). Never force both cards into the receiver if it is a tight fit. First, insert the Magic Card 3/4 of the way into the receiver, then slide your card over the Magic Card, and gently push both into the receiver. Camless magic Card Operations These instructions are based on the current version of the Magic Card Software DOWNLOAD IT HERE In cardless mode, you program the magic card to fully emulate ROM3, 10 or 11 cards. No card is required, but you must know your receiver's boxkeys. Enter your receiver's IRD# and Box Key in field 3 (Receiver Information). Select your Satellite Provider (DishNet or Bell Express Vu) and under Setup select the Camless mode of your choice. Some newer receivers will refuse to work with anything older than a ROM11 card. You can generate valid CAM IDs with Scammer . Recently Bell ExVu sent out an ECM targeting the default CamID. Now you must use one generated with scammer, or a valid sub camID (basically the S04……-xx number from the back of the access card. If your receiver is a 6000 series one, click the checkbox selecting it. Enter a CAM ID and Time Zone and ZIP code in the optional information in field 4 (Optional Information) you can generate valid CAM IDs with Scammer. Although to avoid ECM’s we highly recommend using the default CamID and leaving it untouched. Rom10X Blocker Mode for Magic Access Cards These instructions are based on the current version of the Magic Card Software DOWNLOAD IT HERE When you discontinue a DishNet or BEV subscription, they instruct your card to wipe all channels off and you lose your programming. If your receiver cannot be modified to accept anything but the yellow ROM 101-103 cards you will need to run the Magic Card in ROM 10x blocker mode and slide it under your soon to be ex sub ROM 10x card to prevent the providers from doing any such foolish thing. The result is that you cancel your subscription and retain all channels that you used to pay for with no messing with the receiver or your original Dish or ExpressVU ROM card. Select your Satellite Provider (DishNet or Bell Express Vu) and under Setup select the Bocker-ROM10x mode. Enter your password that was provided with your Magic Card and click on "PROGRAM CARD". Passwords for cards are included with each card. Each card is placed in a small envelope along with its unique password. Do not loose this password, as it is irretrievable at this time. Program the Magic Card and place it under your soon to be ex sub ROM 10x yellow card then slide them both into the receiver. It is a very tight fit at first... For those of you that have been around for a little bit already know the basics of Jtag and boxkeyreading, and are ready to move into the future this is for you. I truly believe patience and perseverance will be rewarded with many years of problem free use. Everybody has to understand though, this whole process is in its infancy and adjustments and improvements are being made almost daily. The creators and dedicated users are always available to answer your questions, and work together to offer solutions. Do not be afraid to ask questions, do not be afraid to offer advice, what you do with the things you learn makes you who you are. I am just glad to be able to support such a wonderful, although sometimes frustrating, up and coming product. I will continue to provide it to all my customers, and highly recommend it to all users. UPDATE!!!! Programming Problems!!! Ok after tearing almost all of my hair out, smashing lots of things and other acts of desperation, I finally figured out the root of my problems!! Although these (Magic Cards) are very good cards, they are constructed very cheaply. Every time you insert the card into the programmer or the IRD the contacts are wearing a little bit, thus the need for a business card, then 2 then 3 and so on. After a few times the contacts are worn to a point they will not make the connection between the receiver and or the programmer. Solution? You will need to re-tin the contacts with some good solder, make sure it is flat and even across the entire contact and no drips are present. Once this is complete, you should be once again able to put the Magic Card into the programmer without any business cards or anything. This may also explain why some married subs are getting whacked, unable to read and or write properly and the access card is putting undue stress on the contacts. I noticed this morning when I received another batch of cards in the mail (I now have over 35 Magic Cards) and compared the contacts on the ones I was having problems programming. The only permanent solution is one which I am trying and hopefully the manufacturers read this too, and that is to replace the current contacts with gold plated ones like the DSS Rev cards have as do the real access cards. I will keep you all posted as to how this works out. This solves the problems with the card not detected; the IRD #'s coming up as all zeros and other problems. The other issue a lot of people have is trying to program with a laptop. Laptop computers generally do not send enough (or any) voltage through the LPT port, thus they can not be used to program the magic card. An old 486 computer with win95 will work just fine!! If you get Smart Card not inserted correctly error message, Remove card and go to default info screen. Observe Smart Card ID # and line beneath it. If Smart Card ID = S00000000000 and line beneath is empty, then the card was not programmed correctly. Re Program and try again. Check Boxkeys and CamID’s. If Smart Card ID = S0000000000000 and line beneath is DNASP003Rev3......(or anything else) Then card was programmed correctly, but you entered the wrong password. Check your password! I would also like to add that I have added my own gold plated contacts to one of the Magic Cards I have that was not programming properly, or at all. Actually, the contact was very carefully removed from a Direct TV HU access card with a razor blade and some heat. Then with conductive epoxy, and clear epoxy was affixed to the face of the Magic Card. This experiment has proven successful thus far, 245 times from receiver, to programmer, re programming, changing ID’s etc. This has also negated the need for business cards or any other spacers as it thickened the Magic Card at the contact point. This is just me playing around, but I think the Developers should take note of this! Have a look: In addition, just so everyone knows, I did not write this entire guide, parts of it are cut and pasted from other guides and I added my two cents where I thought it could be used. I am in NO WAY affiliated with www.magiccard.tv/ or www.datastreamz.net/. I am a member at DataStreamz, as well as many other Satellite boards and an avid fan of the Magic Access Cards. I have been testing for 15 years now, form Direct TV H cards to HU’s and Dishnet and Bell, Rom2 through to Rom 102’s. I have tried every testing method imaginable for all providers, and have a room full of various old testing devices and components, form battery cards to access cards, no745 boards, emulation setups, AVR’s programmers and the list goes on. I don’t pretend to know everything (cause I don’t!) Please feel free to add any questions, comments or concerns or to private message me at DataStreamz or any other board you see me at. Thank-You, Pawnmaster (a.k.a. magicusertoo) The user name pawnmaster I had at datastreamz will not allow me to log in anymore, so magicusertoo is the new name I am using. If you have any comments or suggestions or have something that should be added send me a message at datastreamz
