There are many threads discussing kbox and nfusion. They are very close to each other. Read in those threads.
You joined in 2007, and you might have a ROM102 in an old receiver. If so, read at
www.islinger.org
Irrespective of what you buy, you will need a reliable Broadband connection.

what do i need to get those channels
then compare receivers

It is really the only,
also you need to be on BEV to really get any qauntity of HD channels

kbox has no HD box
SV is having big problems

there is one more option but ..... not for novice at all ..

If you do not know what ROM102 is then islinger is not for you.
These days there are only 2-3 boxes available and all require internet connection ON all the time. It must be Broadband >1mb, preferrably >3MB.
Do a Google on IKS or a search on this site and learn all about IKS.
Nfusion has the only IKS service for HD channels. If channel is HD and you have the Nfusion HD box and HD TV then you will see your program in HD.
http://www.nfusion.ca/ for prices from factory. Individual dealers ma sell for less.
If buying HD, you must buy a 8psk board.

Yes!

All receivers do not provide same channels list.

Are you looking for Bev channels or Dn?

If you want a HD like sump says NFusion Nuvenia HD is the best choice..

The only other practical solution is IKS is kbox, but
1. There is no HD receiver in kbox stable
2. kbox are not compatible with Dishpro Plus.
The only other comment I will make is that if you have the latest fancy "Internet on USB stick" it gives you only 2GB max downloads per months - too little for IKS receiver. Most of the othe rbroadband services such as cable and telephone company based (DSL) offer over 10 GB/month and usually over 22GB/month connections. These are OK

respectfully ....Nalin

a kbox and some other recievers alone cannot produce the power needed to switch the internal switch that is in the DP Plus LNB, having an old DN box, or old viewsat box, or power inserter solves this problem'

over 500ma is needed

DN boxes supply 1000ma which is OK.
If you have one kbox it won't have the power.
As with DP34, you might get away with having and additional FTA box or old DN box attached or a power inserter.
If you have a DP44 you wont need to worry.

Respecfully .. nalin

people must understand that they must "get" the power inserter also everybody does not sell them as a package ..there are applications that do not need it

IMHO
DP 34 will not work with DPP, must be all DPP compatible devices .. DPP + DPP

sean akins: You are flip flopping too much.
For HD, there is ONLY one receiver - a Nfusion HD. So there is no point in comparing Nfusion HD receiver to nothing. If you buy this make sure you get 8psk module with it.
www.nfusion.ca

Your Dish 500 is NOT good enough to get all the channels offered by either of the two major IKS services even if you buy a non-HD receiver. You will need a 33" dish with a special LNB (Digiwave DGL1189 or CB2008A) designed specifically for 118/119 use. Look at:
http://transatelectronics.com/store/33inch-dish-w-1187w-dual-lnb_P390?zenid=6228 6c38e18de1ae23fa80b22f77adcb

Also if you buy Dish Pro plus you will not be able to use kbox without some more addons and effort. Look at my previous post in this thread.

If you decide to go non-HD route, look at:
http://transatelectronics.com/store/receivers-kbox_CA150_121 and
http://www.kboxsales.com

I must reemphasize: THERE IS NO HD RECEIVER FROM KBOX YET.

You will need a simple USB stick (about $10). You WILL need a broadband internet connection. You will need a cable to connect to internet, and if not convenient a wireless bridge or two powerline adaptors.

Nobody can make a decision for you. You should look at the facts as they stand and decide for yourself

The real question is "What is the best receiver today ?" because if a receiver become more popular than other, rapidly it will need more bandwith to support huge users and lot of channels at the same time".

At this time NFusion look good because they remove access to lots of Nova users and build a better server with the money of these Nova suckers. ;-)

Reports indicate that the down frequency and down time of Nfusion is less that that of Kbox.
The International channels of kbox are mostly on ANIK F3 (118.8W) and to get this sat you MUST have
1. a 30-33" Dish
2. a special LNB such as CB2800A, DGL1189 or if you are using Dishprop Plus (500+ or 1000+), there is a special LNB which comes with the kit for 118/119.
It is pointless to try getting ANIK F3 Without these prerequisites. You might get some channels and they will a lot of fading in.out even of the channels you are able to scan.

Special Dish is in relation to the channels available at present from Nfusion or Kbox, i.e. if you want the International channels, they are only available at present mostly from 118.7 which has special requirements regarding Dish size and LNB. Nfusion does give you two popular Indian channels from BEV - you should check the list from nfusion.ca. If that is so, then you will be OK with your 20" Dish pointing to 82/91W.
Sada/Plymouth could comment on the Indo-Pakistani channels source on Nfusion - is it from BEV, or DN at Anik F3 or from both?

I prefer kbox to nfusion, but both are loosing channels. First it was PPV, now it's adult channels....

I'm not sure if they can even do anything about it and it's DN changing their lineup and a standalone fix or combo is going to be needed

Sean

You can use the loop on back receiver, you power off the receive that you don't use.

If you want use both, you must have 1 cable for each receiver hook it on each output of the LNB, for 2 or more LNB you must use a Diseq swicth or a DP switch if you use a DN receiver.
