Upon returning from a trip i went to plug in my hlr6167w dlp tv and the surge protector switch must have had been on and when i plugged in the set, it shorted out with a nice 'zap' sound and brief smell of burnt electric. Can anyone tell me what exactly was fried and is it repairable? if repairable, can one do it himself without grief, or do i need a professional? |

Hi Brad, Most likely the power supply was damaged; surges in electricity can cause the power supply to fail. If you decide to call a professional, try calling a NESDA certified technician, you can find one by entering your zip code in their website nesda.com. If one shows up try calling him and ask for opinions, if it sounds that it is the power supply then check repair prices. You can also consider comparing prices with local repair shops or you may end up replacing it yourself. Keep checking the forum to get more information. Good Luck. |
