i am new to iks so please sorry if i say anything stupid, Lol...i want to buy a kbox, sada told me the other day that if i can find a k1plus to go for it, my question is, if the k1plus if being replace with the prodigy then why should i buy the k1plus instead of the prodigy? Also, what is the different between the kbox prodigy standalone version and the kbox prodigy with khub? wich of one should i buy, k1plus or prodigy? and wich box, the standalone cersion or the one with the khub? |

if you do some research, I think youll find that the prodigy is ethernet ready ( no Ihub dongle required)...
which I believe would eliminate the need to buy the K1 hero, and an IHUB dongle.... |

yep
both are same,
k1plus is replaced with pridelogy,
both are equally supported and have same software features,
if u can get hands on with plus model, it would be 20-30 dollars cheaper then pro..
u must need to buy khub and k1plus or pro,
model in order to watch nagra 3 channels,
there is option for standalone which was available during nagra 2 and it will be available once nagra 3 is cracked (if u don't wanna use iks)...
but for now until nagra 3 is cracked u must need to use iks in order to watch channels.. |

luis lets say u have a router somewhere in basement and u wanna watch tv on first or 2nd floor and u don't wanna set one network cable going from ur router to ur rec then u use poweradapter,
other wise if ur router is close to ur tv
or if u don't mind a network cable from ur router to ur rec then u don't need power adapter.. |

lol luis just talking about bev or anything like that mod's will edit ur post, will give u warning and 2nd time its ban..
what happend with nfusion, remember one of store got raided,and since bev is always involved in iks recievers,
they started to figure out to let it go until things are cool and other way to think is that they are smart enough to know what people really want to see,
which is dn internartional ,
and they will get some english news, movie channel to get the thing going,
they will add more channels, not at once but step by step.. |

A correction only on west coast you can find K1 Plus from one of the official dealers and it is only $10 less than Prodigy. Prodigy sells for 129.95 without hub and K1 Plus 119.99. May be you know other places where you can get K1 Plus at lower price

subash , one member told me here that is $ 20 cheaper so that's what i mean't ..
its all about supply and demand , most of k1plus are already out so i think they are few left overs,
so this could be reason for price hike..
unfortunately i don't know any other "official dealer" that are selling at same price.
may be some other member's who bought this now would have better idea of price range.. |

My post was not intended to say that you are incorrect, sorry if I came across that way.
I just looked at all the official dealers from Canada listed at http://kboxteam.com/partners and found only one even had K1 plus at $10 less than Prodigy.
It might have been $20 less when Prodigy came in - probably the dealers had not realized both were almost identical and wanted to sell of the K1 Plus they had in stock.
I just meant to say that currently the difference in price is only $10. I should have communicated more clearly, |

download latest bin luis, check the other thread with smart equipment heading,
they make our life so easy , with all in one thing,
i am not sure why people are having problems,
first of all make sure u have a router
plug ur network cable from ur router to ur khub
turn on khub,plug serial cable from ur khub to k1plus,
u will see red light , u need to get green light,
green light means good to go,
to get green light u need to download latest bin which is posted on above thread..
it's that simple, |

ok i got that, but in what order i do this? i activated the khub first then latest bin or the other way, latest bin first then activated khub? and after this step of activation and bin, i guess i have to go menu and scan for 119 and 110 just like i did with cw800 correct? i also see that people are talking about ip address, and stuff like that, do i may have to deal with that. |

prodigy versus k1plus
I kind of thought that the k1plus had some weakness in the hardware architecture that made making clones easier and that eventually the k1plus wasn't going to be supported.
Just from what I read from nfusion and the nova and about how easy other boxes could clone and use their IKS technology when not having an offical nfusion box, made me think that maybe the kteam was doing something similar when they released the prodigy, but just speculation from my part |

too many hubs are trying to connect to the
server may be kbox did'nt even anticipate all this
rush at once maybe mayyyyybe they are up dating
there system or server
but for all these receivers i always have my fingers
crossed. because it is a lot easier for dn and others to corrupt these hub servers than it is to move from nagra to nagra |

Neil, Thanks for reply, yes I did rescan, & I noticed one thing, channels didnt appeared as duplicate, only those channels came whichever were missed or deleted, isnt weird ? & I am sure that nobody deleted those channels in my house, if somebody deleted by mistake, how it will be deleted from favourite? anyway I am sharing my exp with this issue. thx |

Sada,
Activated KHub using latest activation file (6-25) red on top but green light beside ethernet port. Downloaded both 1.76 file and 201. connected one powerline adaptor to wireless router and plug directly to wall and the other connected to Khub and directly to wall. Set network auto CH/TP off keep at ch. 200 but no picture. What is wrong. |

i compared both system nfusion takes 5 sec
k1plus 3-4 sec

karbour kaka there can be many problems
if u have network cable , (if its possible ) can u try without powerline adapter,?
u can try one thing first, just recycle the power, first turn on ur modem, then turn on ur router ,
and then ur khub , may be power activation will solve the problem
did u try factory reset as from network mode,?
may be khub is not activated, reactivate the khub,
there can be multiple problems, but most likely its problem with ur powerline adapter..
i know sometimes its frustration,
but again once its setup , it will be all smooth,
so first thing to do is try above steps,
but first suggestion would be try without powerline adapter , if its possible,
make sure u get singals, sometimes a simple problem can be big headache,
how many cables it came with ur hub?
mine came with only grey cable
one thing u can try is take out grey cable and see if its says module not connected or if it shows something else.. |

Same problem here.... (-: trying to setup the Kbox Prodigy. Did my reading, follow all types of instruction, and still getting Module not connected, then it goes and stay trying to connect. I have also switched from DHCP to Static IP and still problems. Could it be a bad Khub? |

In all types of IP connections, you should allow DHCP first, note down the IP address and then make it static. I also find that if a device is set to dish out say a range of 100-150, and I can set a static IP for the receiving device, I use higher number for static IP, e.g. 140.
A device set to dish out IP addresses will give them out sequentially - 100,101,102 etc in the above example. By setting the static IP to beyond the number of devices that are likely to be connected, you are avoiding a lot of confusion. However the IP address must be settable at both ends, i.e. in the router dishing out the addresses and the device receiveing the IP address. |

What good would IP configuration do if the Khub doesn't work? I have tried the IP configuration from the router and also setup static IP range on router and assigned it to Kbox, the Khub still refuse to work. I am thinking that it could be a bad Khub hardware... the problem now is finding the guy to get another one (-: |

"K-Hub Troubleshooting (updated)
C&P from hedo2002..........Updated version.......
Here is a comprehensive HELP guide if your experiencing issues with connecting via your HUB.
First let's make things CLEAR. The HUB is NOT produced nor "sanctioned" by K-Box. K-Box simply produces FTA units, the HUB is a THIRD PARTY device with THIRD PARTY software.
Okay let's first distinguish there are THREE versions of HUBS. Each has their own version number.
If you look at the hub you will see a series of numbers which begin with:
08001
08002
08003
09001
09006, THIS IS a NEW version and does NOT ship with a power adapter, Power is supplied via the BLACK CABLE, It comes with ONE BLACK cable, which is used to activate AND to run IKS.
They are all basically identical, the PRIMARY difference is 08003/09001 do NOT arrive pre activated.
So if YOUR hub came with BOTH a BLACK as well as white/grey/cream Serial cable
then it is NOT pre activated.
If you have the BLACK cable then the FIRST thing you MUST do is activate your hub by connecting it via the BLACK cable to your PC, you must then LOAD the (p) file, found in the files forum into your hub to activate it.
Now let's assume your hub IS activated. The following steps will help you rule out potential problems and eliminate them as the cause of no connection.
- Be sure to use the BLACK cable for activation and for connecting the hub to the K1 PROdigy, the white/grey/cream cable is for connecting the Hub to the K-Box K1PLUS.
- TEST your LAN cable, on a PC, (disconnect current cable and try the one you use with your K-Box).
- Ensure the settings in the MENU under Installation -> Options are set to MODE -> NETWORK, and BOTH autorolls are set to OFF
- IF you are using version 08001 or 08002 version hubs, these "tend" to connect better using the STATIC settings with the DNS servers settings as 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2. You may choose your OWN ip - the first THREE sets of digits MUST mirror those of your router IE 192.168.1.X. the X may be a number of your choosing within the range of your network. IE 16, (BUT it MUST NOT be the same as ANY other device on your network, so you should check to see what IP's are currently in use on your network.
- version 08003/09001 seems to work fine on the DHCP settings.
- You may ALSO, (especially if your using MTS or ALIANT as a ISP) change the DNS server settings IN your ROUTER to the public DNS Servers of 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2). These ISP's servers will NOT permit your K-Box to connect, if you use THEIR DNS servers.
- check that your serial cable is a RS232 STRAIGHT thru cable, for the K1 PLUS, and a NULL modem for the K1 PROdigy, and that it is good and functioning.
- check to ensure you are using the AC adapter that CAME WITH the hub, do NOT use any other adapter, this could render your HUB a door stop.
- There will soon be a NEW file released which will permit you to do a "factory reset" on the HUB. This file will simply return the hub to it's FACTORY settings but will NOT affect the "activation" status of the hub.
IF after doing all the above try the following:
Unplug Modem
Unplug Router
Unplug ANY wireless devices used with the K-Hub/K-Box
Unplug HUB
Turn k-Box off via the rear switch.
Wait at least 30 seconds then re plug each device IN the SAME order that you unplugged them IE modem first, router second.....
Then reboot, (turn on), the K-Box make sure the mode is set to NETWORK.
The above info IF followed correctly should correct 99% of ALL connection issues.
If you still can't connect, then ask in the forums for assistance." |

It means that for Kbox pro only black cable is used for everything, then why did they send both blck and creamy cables? Anyway The Khub is 09003 and when I used the black cable for connection with the rec. a message said checking wait for at least 10 min without any connection. |

so lol, i was telling u it can be simple problem
i wasn't sure karkour that new rec comes with two cable,
may be they have extra cable for people who don't have usb,
is the message still saying, did u reboot the router,
and khub after putting black cable? |

It works fine now after I used the black cable for connections of rec and hub NOT the grey cable. This is very important for all Kbox Pro users. Also turn evreything off then on and leave for a while and it should work. Thank you Sada and thank you Nalin for your distinguished and patient efforts for helping. Now I have to go to enjoy my new rec. |

mine is 09003 also. If you have Kbox pro use the black cable for activation of Hub and connection to Kbox rec. Turn everything off, then on and wait for about 15 min for network connection. Good luck |
