Howto: Flash Viewsat XTREME
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This document is intended to provide a Viewsat VS2000 XTREME owner with a comprehensive set of initial configuration steps. The goal is to have the receiver operational as quickly as possible with the least amount of difficulty.
This document assumes that one or more antennas with appropriate LNB's and any required switches has already been properly installed for receiving one or more satellites. Only settings which are crucial for proper operation are covered.
Once the unit is operational, the user should review the remaining settings and adjust them to suit personal needs or preferences.
Begin by downloading the latest firmware.

The file name will be DBPSW-yyddmmX.ZIP, where yy is the year, mm is the month, and dd is the day.
This file is a ZIP archive containing the actual firmware file which is named DBPSW-yymmddX.PGM.
If you are not using Windows XP or Windows Vista, you will have to use a program such as WinZIP or WinRAR to extract the PGM file to your hard drive.
LOAD the PGM file to your receiver using the VS Loader.

This is the only file you will need.
With the receiver connected to your antenna and television, turn on the main power switch located on the back of the unit. If necessary, press the red power button on the remote control to bring the receiver out of standby mode.
Press the MENU button on the remote control to display the Main Menu. If prompted, enter your PIN code when necessary (default = 0000, master = 3570).
The file will be transferred into the receiver and then written to nonvolatile memory. During this process, I.n.S.t. will be displayed on the receiver.
Do NOT interrupt this operation in any way or your receiver could be damaged permanently.
When the operation is complete, the receiver will automatically reboot. If necessary, press the red power button on the remote control to bring the receiver out of standby mode.
* Select User Setting -> Factory Default. Press OK with Yes selected.
* Select System Information -> Receiver Information. Verify that the Main S/W listed is the same name as the firmware you just installed.
* Select User Setting -> Parental Control. Set Menu Lock to Off.
* Select User Setting -> Time Setting. Set Time Mode to Auto. Set Time Adjustment to the GMT offset for your area (-5:00 for Eastern, -6:00 for Central, -7:00 for Mountain, or -8:00 for Pacific).
* Set Summer Time to Off for Standard Time or On for Daylight Savings Time.
* Select User Setting -> System Settings. Set Local Channel to On. Change Local Channel Region to your city or the closest one listed. Channels in this region will be mapped to their normal local channel numbers.
* Select User Setting -> Option. Set Sort By SID to On. Set Auto TP to On. Set Auto Roll to All. Set Full Channel Name to On.
* Select User Setting -> EPG Setting. Set EPG TP to E:12472 and N:12311.
* Select Installation -> Antenna Setup.
For each satellite to be configured, perform the following steps:
* Set Satellite to the desired satellite.
* Set LNB Power to On.
* Set LNB Type. Legacy Single and Dual LNB's should be set to Standard.
* Legacy Twin and Quad LNB's have their own dedicated types (LNB1 = higher azimuth satellite / LNB2 = lower azimuth satellite). Dish Pro LNB's should be set to OCS-DP.
* Set LNB Freq. to 11250.
* Set 22 KHz. Select Off or On, as appropriate, if a 22 KHz switch is used with this LNB. Otherwise, select Off is no 22 KHz switch is used with this LNB.
* Set TP Freq. to 12224 unless this satellite is EchoStar 7 (119.0W), in which case use 12239 instead. The TP Freq. setting is not saved upon exit. This is normal and will not affect any subsequent operations.
* Set DiSEqC 1.0. If an external DiSEqC switch is being used with this LNB, select the appropriate port number. If this LNB is a DishPro Twin or Quad, select port 1 (higher azimuth satellite) or port 2 (lower azimuth satellite), as appropriate. Otherwise, select None if no DiSEqC switch is used with this LNB.
* Set Motor as required for your installation. If no motor is used, set Motor to Off.
* Set Legacy SW. If this LNB is a Legacy Twin or Quad, select SW42 Dish 1 (higher azimuth satellite) or SW42 Dish 2 (lower azimuth satellite), as appropriate. If using an external Legacy Switch with this LNB, select the appropriate type.
At this point, you should see readings on the signal strength (S) and quality (Q) meters above 50.
You should also see the expected satellite name displayed in the upper right corner of the screen, superimposed on the blue bar to the right of the words "Antenna Setup", and it must match the satellite name to right of the 'Satellite' label in the menu.
If you don't see the proper satellite name displayed or don't have reasonable signal readings, you should not proceed. You may need to reposition your antenna or correct wiring problems.
Repeat the Antenna Setup procedure, as needed, for each additional satellite.
When finished configuring satellites, press Exit and press OK with Yes selected to save your settings.
* Select Installation -> Auto Scan. Set Search option to All and Network Search to On. If you are configured for multiple satellites, press F1, place a check-mark after all configured satellite names, then press Exit.
* Select Scan Start and press OK.
When scanning has completed, press OK with Yes selected to save the results.
Press Exit to leave the Main Menu. Select a strong channel. It may take some time for Auto Roll to complete and the picture and sound to appear. Be patient.
To download the EPG manually, select User Setting -> EPG Setting -> Receive Guide and press OK. The EPG will be continually updated automatically when the receiver is in standby mode (powered off from the remote control).
If the main power switch located on the back of the unit is turned off, the EPG will be lost and must be reloaded.
TIP: you can lessen the load on the processor & memory by deleting unwanted channels.!
ANOTHER GUIDE sent by a member
HOW TO FLASH.
You can flash (load) your receiver with a bin on top of the bin (file) you already have. It will replace it.
Use a Null CABLE RS232 on your receiver from the computer. Or use a Null adaptor from Radio Shack number 26-264B to make a straight through cable a Null cable. Take the cable off going to the LNB to be safe. If you don't have a 9 pin plug on your computer you may need to use a USB to Serial cable 26-183 at Radio Shack with a Null adaptor. If you need a 9 pin mail to mail gender adapter it is item #: 26-231. You will need to install a drive in your computer for the USB cable.
Un-zip all the files and hook up the cable from your computer to the STB, keep the STB off with the switch in the back. Start the loader-2 and click on OPEN FILES. Find the bin file you un-zipped that now ends in PGM. Click on it and it will automatically go on the first line of the loader. Click on the icon just below the word TOOL and check the COM PORT. Then turn STB on from the back and at first light click PC->STB on the loader. If the progress bar don't move after about a minute start over again. Sometimes the timing is critical. Even try turning STB on from the back first then click PC->STB. Don't do anything as the progress bar is going across. Make sure the Computer & STB are done before you go to the next step. They may not get done at the same time. The receiver needs up to one minute to process the data, (DON'T RUSH THIS).
You may need to put a list of Satellites in your STB if you don't have any. Click on OPEN FILES and find the Satellite list you already downloaded and un-zipped. Now do the same thing you did above to flash your STB.
PLUGGING IN CABLE.
Make sure you plug in the cable from the dish to the receiver at the LNB 13/18v INPUT. Not the ANT IN. The cables coming from the dish to the switch should be put on the switch at the same number as you have set in your receiver. "Example", 119 cable goes on number 1 on the diseqc switch and the receiver has #1 for 119 in the program. You can only get one Satellite for each one LNB you have. Two LNB's two Satellites, and so on.
Now you should set your settings. Below is what most have.
MENU, INSTALLATION, then 0000 or 0937 or 2668 or 3570 then ANTENNA SETUP then side arrow to ECHOSTAR 7 119.0W. Then do the same to ECHOSTAR 8,10 110.0W

HOW TO DO A FACTORY DEFAULT

When you do this you will also clean out your channels.
HOW TO SCAN A SATELLITE FOR CHANNELS
You should scan for the channels. Sometimes when you use a channel list the keys or TP auto-roll will not work.
MENU, INSTALLATION, ANTENNA SETUP, then side arrow to Satellite to be scanned. then
The bottom of the screen will tell you to click on F1 or F2 key on the remote to start the scan.
HOW TO ENTER KEYS MANUALLY
In the setup under CODE (the keys) you will find DISH in two places, 00 01 00 and 01 01 00. Change the keys in 01 01 00. The "F' key may be the COLOR button on remote's if you don't have the TEXT button.
1 Menu, 2 Installation, 3 Enter Pin 0000, 4 Code, 5 Nagra, 6 Left until you see Dish or whatever.
Put 00 keys on line 08 & 09 don't change the 08 or 09 number
Put 01 keys on line 88 & 89 don't change the 88 or 89 number
EXIT once then OK to save, the light color is the one you pick to save then EXIT out.
HOW TO SEARCH/EDIT, ANTENNA CONFIGURATION, ADD SATELLITE, RENAME SATELLITE, DELETE SATELLITE.
MENU, INSTALLATION, 0000, SIDE ARROW TO DN OR whatever, then down once to NETWORK SEARCH ON, Then down once to HAMMER ICON then side arrow to what you want to do.
CHANNEL NAME WITH CHANNEL MASTER
When flashing channels to your STB some of the names may change. To correct that do this.
GO to MENU, then OPTIONS and set
"FULL CHANNEL NAMES" to OFF.
Load your CHANNEL.
When done turn FULL CHANNEL NAMES back ON.
ADD A TP
To add a TP go to the channel scan section, select Dish or whatever go down to the green screw driver and hammer icon, hit ok to enter the tp list, then F1 button to add new TP You can also hit the pause button in this section to get a overview of other actions.
HOW TO TURN AUTO-ROLL OFF & ON
MENU,OPTIONS then go to AUTO-ROLL. If there is a problem sometimes getting the keys to auto-roll take the STB off a local channel that may help.
SET GMC TIME
MENU, INSTALLATION, TIME SETTING.
TO SEE WHAT BIN & BOOT YOU HAVE
MENU, INSTALLATION, RECEIVER UPGRA, OK
RESET RECEIVER (HARD BOOT)
Sometimes you need to do a reset, (hard boot). Turn power off then on from the back.
It is a must for users to have tools to get the keys. Below is just to get you started.
KEYMASTER or KEYRIPPER - Will give you keys.
HOW TO CLONE ONE XTREAM TO ANOTHER XTREAM
Connect the Master Xtream (the one with the info) to the wall outlet and TV & have power on from the back of the Xtream.
Connect the second Xtream (the one you want to clone to) to the wall outlet with the power off in the back.
Connect the master and clone receivers together with a null modem cable.
On the master receiver click on MENU, INSTALLATION, RECEIVER UPGRADE, ALL INFORMATION, then OK.
Turn the to be cloned receiver on from the back and the transfer will start.
When the transfer is done it will take about a minute for the clone receiver to process the info. Make sure you give it plenty of time to finish.,,,, PARA KATIA,,, DEJA SABER QUE ANTENA TIENE Y ,,, LNB ,,,, |

La creación
1 Dios, en el principio,

a nuestra imagen y semejanza.
Que tenga dominio sobre los peces del mar,

27 Y Dios creó al ser humano a su imagen;
lo creó a imagen de Dios.
*Hombre y mujer los creó,

muchos de estos reciver tienen que clic download antes de que aparezcan las luces, enciende el reciver con el switch de atras y clic donwload, tratalo hasta que veas la linea verde empezar |

Me tarde un poco y tuve que dejar de lado las formas sugeridas por Jvvh
y buscar mi propio camino, estuve intentando de diversas formas usando esas sugerencias
y terminaba siempre en una pared, aunque logre encender el 2700 con el boot y el bin de Lzma,
pero despues habia problemas con el control de los LNB...
por eso opte por buscar otros caminos menos complicados...

Mario Andres, prueba ir poniendo uno esclavo de otro en la salida repetidora que traen los receptores, etc. etc... y prueba estar cambiando canales en ambos, si no se te congela ninguno eso te serviría, de lo contrario tendrías que usar un multiswitch, 4 * 8 por ejemplo.
Pero para usar un multiswitch necesitarías contar con dos salidas del lnb, ya que de una halaría la polaridad Vertical y de la otra la Horizontal.

que tal como estan todos y todas. tengo 2 antenas { SKY en { 1 = 119 { 2 } = 110 pero como saben el satelite se movio la tenia libre la antena la movi manualmente en esa en contre algunos canales en el formato { ADTH } solo abrieron 4. lo que pasa es que ayer subi a mover la antena y a hora meda los { TP } del { 119 } aun caida la antena que pasaria como puedo tomar los canales que tenia de { ADTH } pues me da los mismos canales del { 119 } alguien me podria dar ayuda. gracias y saludos desde la capital de las fresas. }} |

Alguien me puede decir por que los PANSAT 2700 ya se ve la senal sin que se vaya como antes? esta raro por que ahora si hay programacion, por favor alguien deme informacion, gracias!! |

Aqui de regreso, despues de un puentecito ahi nomas tomandome unas coronas en la feria de san marcos ahi anduvimos en la apertura y de paso fui a ver ganar al necaxa , en
aguascalientes.....Huyyyy y que coronas, son unas megacoronas, 2.5 litros Mannnnn
creo que dos coronas ejercitan mas que unas mancuernas del GYM...je, je, je
