Hitachi Plasma 42PD7800TA no colour on DVD's
The plasma has been working fine but now shows DVD’s in black and white, no matter what input I use (ie AV1, AV2, S-Video etc). Have plugged other DVD players in and same thing, so it’s not the player (also plugged DVD player into another plasma to be sure).
I plugged another DVD player in by using the old school method of using the antenna cable and tuning the TV to the player and this resulted in a colour picture. Pictures via the STB are still in colour also.
So it seems the screen has no problem producing colour, it simply processes any signal coming in through the RGB or AV inputs as black and white. Any ideas? Have looked through the menus, everything seems fine.
For the record, the STB is connected to the plasma via RGB and the DVD is connected via S-video. |

Look at the s-video cable and see if one of the four pins is broken or bent. |
