I live in my parents house and it was built back in 1992 and this is when the cable wiring was done. We have poor reception from cables depending on the location within the house. My question is how much signal loss is causes by splitters? And could this possibly be the reason we have bad reception especially on lower channels.

Here is the setup
5-1000mhz (2 way) - This is where the main cable line feeds.
5-1000mhz (8 way) - This is where the lines are split initially. Most first floor tvs are connected to this splitter.
?-????mhz (4 way) - This is where the lines are split again to go to the second floor. I don't know the rating.
5-900mhz (3 way) - The line going up stairs feeds into this splitter.

All splits are maxed out so every line is used. Also the range can vary between splits. The distance of wiring between the first split and the last split is probably 50-70ft.
