Hi, I know this is almost definitely a repeat thread, but I couldn't find any information pertaining to my situation specifically, so here it is. Next September I will finally be out of the dorms where I go to school and in an apartment. I will be purchasing a 46 inch 1080p HDTV next summer and here is the kicker decision. I have narrowed my choices down to either Dish Network for HD programming or Time Warner Cable. I worked through their websites and the price is roughly identical, around 70-80 bucks for their 2nd to best package + HBO on demand HD. So price isn't really a huge issue here, as they are pretty much the same. One thing I absolutely want is the NFL Network, which I could not find on Time Warner Cable's packages. My main concern is the quality. I want the local channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, etc), which Dish provides, and the best quality HD I can get. My concerns are the weather interference with satellite (not sure if this is a huge deal or not). I have no technical experience with either of these, nor any personal experience. I have had standard Time Warner Cable service for many years and it has been fine, but I would like some more experienced with these two services than I am myself. Thanks for any input folks. |

In my opinion - Best quality HD broadcast is HD Turbo by Dishnet - Next will be Verizon FIOS However I do think Verizon got the worst customer service on our planet - Cablevison or Time Warner are pretty good and they maybe lowest prices I had a fair chance to try them all I chose to go with Cablevision Optimum Online - Triple Pack: Internet, Phone, Digital cable All 3 for $90 a month I get over 60 HD channels for free - Verizon for $95 - AT&T coming out with a similar triple pack promo If triple pack is not an option I would go with Dish-Net HD Turbo by far beats DTV from price quality and selections DTV do have NFL Ticket but soon this may change for next season |

No comment on content issues. DirecTV has a stronger business model than DISH and DISH may not make it in the long run. |

What is stronger business got to do with quality Marc? The guy specifically says his main concern is quality Dish Net is currently the only provider on earth to broadcast in 1080p Yo may wanna look this up HD-Turbo At present time this applies to on-demand movies But it's a start for many trends to follow Also dishnet is the only provider that has dual tuners made for 2 TVs Yo love to disagree with me Marc Just admit it |
