I moved into a new apartment about 6 months ago now and used to have the motorola dvr (not 100% sure which one) but now in my new apartment is 20 minutes away but in a different area so i am forced to use a cisco box (RNG200) with the crap scientific atlanta firmware (when u hit guide another menu pops up and u have to hit tv listings) and i absolutely hate the way the firmware is and everything about it.

my girlfriend also has some vision issues and finds the other menu style much easier to see and read. so really we could both benefit from this

i really want to know if

a) i can get the motorola box and somehow trick it into thinking it is working from the region where it works

or

b) modify my existing firmware on my current box so that it performs like the motorola boxes work
