I am experiencing a problem with this recorder playing ANY DVD's. It tries to load the DVD and gives up. Then a small red sign travels quickly and continuosly across the TV screen from right to left and so quickly you can't read it. Has anyone else experienced this and what is the fix?

Are you having a problem with the unit reading blank discs, or commercial discs?

I read on a few forums that the unit does not read or will not record to discs that are rated greater than 8x. And the sad part is that 8x discs are hard to come by.

Thanks for the inquiry. The player doesn't recognize commercial disks such as rentals or DVD's I have in my collection. The player just started acting up recently.
