This just occurred to me, will I get a better picture if my TV is set to 720p instead of 1080i. I always thought 1080i was a higher resolution but if progressive scan is double the lines, then 720p is 1440, this make sence?

You can't change the resolution of the TV. If you are talking about changing the source resolution, it should in most cases match the TV resolution. If you've got a CRT TV, the resolution is 1080i, if you've got a flat panel TV, (LCD, plasma) the resolution is 720p or 1080p.
