Do yo know what's even funnier
The spam ad above is yor answer
What yo need is a live capture
A/V out to computer via USB
It's a hardware
Check e-bay type "video capture"

I use firewire cuz I'm a mac user
With final cut pro as my application

Thanks Dracu-Laal the attachment is in unknown format i can't open it but thanks anyway I have WiNAVI AND WINMEPG I was hoping for something better.

King I also have a ATI video card set up on an older Computer to record movies from the tv and a new windows media Computer also. But I am looking to convert all my DVD movies to a smaller file (AVI or DIVX) to store them on my USB 500 GB hard drive.
i also want to know what is better AVI or DIVX or even MPEG?

All about the same
I would go with MPEG-I
Flash by Macromedia (now Adobe) can be better

Hardware capture is the key to convert an interlaced NTSC cheap software aren't good at all

Divx movies use the avi file format and best but RMVB format by Realmedia achieves same quallity at 300-400mb as avi's at 700mb and will play as you downloading. Popular in china where they are way ahead of us in the copyright infringement game.
